I am using this platform in 2018 as a "re-launch" (yet again) of my social media and use it as an expression for my outlook both the worlds cultural changes through the fashion industry as well as my perspective on fashion and beauty through displaying my own style and growth which can be seen through my writing and videos.
I thought that I would use this post to discuss my back story for any of you wondering and help you gain more of an understanding of this gal right here.
Firstly I should start off by saying that this is not my first attempt in the blogosphere. I actually first created this blog when I was a mere 13 years old (the posts are still on this site if anyone has the interest to look back at them whilst I cringe in the corner). I realise now that the motivation behind this initial creation was out of a desire just to "be like Zoella".
Unfortunate, but true. I, like many other young teenage girls, who were trapped in the YouTube-obsessed stratosphere with the likes of PointlessBlog, Zoella, ThatcherJoe, Tanya Burr simply storming the gig. These stars were at the peak of their popularity. Everyone wanted to be like them.
And so naturally, I myself was no exception.
I would describe myself as a rather determined person and so decided all the way back in 2015 that it would be a fantastic idea to start a beauty blog. Then I would go on to create a You Tube channel, then I would get a millions of subscribers and get super famous and-
Do you see my flawed thought process here?
You see, unlike these YouTuber's here with big budget cameras, personality and opportunity to grow, I forgot that I actually had an iPhone 4s camera to work with, very limited knowledge of beauty, and a budget of £5 a week.
Needless to say, it didn't quite work out.
So, in 2017, with a little more knowledge ( but not much) I decided to try again as my materialistic side had desperate need to be satisfied and I felt that I had pretty much moved on from my crazed obsession with the big beauty bloggers and found more interest in the smaller and more fashion focussed vloggers and bloggers. I even began a YouTube channel. I genuinely was starting to enjoy this but sure enough, the horror of Year 11 began to kick in and GCSEs pretty much took over my entire life since, because as I mentioned previously, I was determined to get the best grades that I possibly could.
So why now?
Well, firstly, exams are now over and I now have the time to really commit to this since I have the time and stress levels to deal with it. But as well as this, now at 16, I feel like I have something that I didn't at 13. I have the passion. And when I say passion, I don't mean the " I bought this from boots the other day and I think it smells nice" kind of passion. No, I mean fashion and beauty are physical documentations of our society today, which people use to identify themselves, a culture, or a time period in history. This a reason (out of a few) that I love to shop. I love to see what stores are offering people through different price ranges, looks and styles for the opportunity to alter the way that people view themselves and how the world views them.
Now, I'm not saying that I by any means know exactly what I am talking about because as I said, I'm only 16. But I can acknowledge that there is room to grow and I am willing to learn on the job. I am trying to use this platform as a way of informing people of the worlds ever-changing thoughts on fashion and beauty whilst also trying to inspire others to embrace their own personal style which is something which also develops overtime.
I have always been and English geek and have always been almost skint due to the all-too-often clothes and make-up purchases. I finally want to release my creativity into something that I am really proud of and so I hope you enjoy what I have to say.
Wow, this is a long old post. I promise you that they won't all be this long!
Okay, I signing off now.
